ERIC NYSTEDT, Badge 7899, joined the Ontario Provincial Police in September 1990 and was posted to Minden, Ontario. On July 3rd, 1993, Eric, age 24, was ambushed and stabbed to death while hunting an armed attacker in the Haliburton cottage area. During his brief career, Eric was involved with community sporting events and was a member of the O.P.P running team. Eric exemplified what a young Police Officer should be. As one of Eric's passions was RUNNING, it is only fitting he be honoured by having a run dedicated to his memory. The Third Annual ERIC NYSTEDT MEMORIAL RUN is that event, bringing the Police and the community together in memory and celebration!
